Mosley vs. Mayweather – Were you really impressed?

Honestly, what has happened to boxing in the past, 10-15 years? Have we been spoiled by witnessing the Ali, Holmes, Fraizer, and Tyson fights of old? What about the Leonard, Spinks, and HitMan Hearns battles? Or even the classic Summer Olympic battles which featured stars before they became stars?

Boxing has literally turned from old school street brawls to sweaty men hugging after Round 4. I will admit, this fight may have been more entertaining than some I have witnessed in recent history, but I am still left with a sour taste. Fights have become good only for the parties that surround them.

Recently I was watching old Ali fights on one of ESPN’s 37 channels and was enthralled at what I witnessed. Ali was more than simply devastating, he was entertaining. Name one person, since Mike Tyson, that can fit that category. Tyson was so entertaining that he heightened an awesome Hangover movie that was eagerly anticipated as is. Now the rumor mill is saying that Tyson will be guest starring on The Entourage’s upcoming season.

As for boxing today, I’d rather stick to clips from the “Great White Hype”, “Rocky I, II, or III" Dang, I'd even prefer knuckling up with Super Macho Man on Mike Tyson’s Punch out.

Now this is a Fight!! For real… what you know about that????

SPEAKING OF BREES, THE PREGAME CHANT VIDEO (you gotta love that)

If you have ever played ball on ANY level, you just got crazy chills looking at that.

MADDEN 11 COVER – WILL THE CURSE CONTINUE FOR DREW BREES?

Whoa Saints Fans…. Is this what you guys really want?!?!? The Madden Curse may be heading down to the French Quarter. Drew Brees has been selected by the fans to hail as the coveted cover boy of the Madden 11 video game.

Will he be the next victim of the Madden Curse? As a competitor, I never wish injury on any gamer……But as a Falcons fan, if it happened….. I’m just saying. Honestly, I hope he is there when they come to the Dome December 27th. I will be making that flight!

The crew at GameClutchBlog.com provided a nice synopsis of the Madden Curse:

Madden 2001 - Eddie George is the cover player. George made it through the season but had a steep decline in stats and skills the following season.

Madden 2002 - Daunte Culpepper is the cover player. Culpepper suffers a season-ending knee injury late in the season. Culpepper has never been the same player since gracing the cover.

Madden 2003 - Marshall Faulk is the cover player of Madden that year. Faulk made it through the season but saw his stats diminish greatly for the first time in four years.

Madden 2004 - Michael Vick graced the cover of Madden that year. Vick didn’t even make it out of pre season. Vick suffered a season-ending injury in the third week of pre season. Ironically the injury came one day after the game hit the shelves.

Madden 2005 - Ray Lewis was the first defensive player to be featured on Madden. Lewis failed to make an interception for the first time in his NFL career. Lewis missed a significant amount of time the following season with an injury.

Madden 2006 - Donovan McNabb graced the cover. Every Philadelphia Eagles fan like me groaned when we first saw the cover. Unfortunately our worries came to fruition when McNabb suffered a season-ending injury and the Eagles season ended in T.-Omoil.

Madden 2007 - Shaun Alexander was the featured Madden player that year. Who? Alexander suffered a foot injury and missed significant time that season. Alexander was never the same player since. A few years later and Alexander doesn’t even have a job in the NFL.

Madden 2008 - Vince Young got the cover after an amazing rookie season. Young did make it throw the season with a minor injury. However, Young lost the starting job the next season and continues to ride the Tennessee Titans’ bench in 2009.

Madden 2009 - Brett Favre graced the cover for the first time in his career. Gamers expected Favre to break the curse because he was retired when it was announced he’d be on the Madden cover. Unfortunately Brett couldn’t leave well enough alone and wound up playing for the Jets last season. Favre had a disappointing season and suffered several injuries. Favre didn’t miss any time, but reports this year indicate he should have. This one is a push.

Madden 2010 - Larry Fitzgerald and Troy Polamalu are the first two players to be featured on a Madden cover. Polamalu is injured on a blocked field goal in the second quarter of Week 1 of the NFL season.

Just How Important is the NFL Draft????

For proof of what the NFL Draft means to the fans, see how the faithful fans of the New York Jets feel after their years of “Let Downs”

You gotta feel for the fans of the New York Giants' "Step-Brother"

Why We Love the NFL Draft....

Why does the excitement of the NFL Draft go far above and beyond that of the other professional sports drafts?

I was beating myself over the head about this question, but then it came to me…. In all respect to baseball, football has become the true American Pastime. You watch your favorite players grown and develop during college while beating each other to sleep for 3 to 4 years and it concludes with draft night… or so it begins.

Now you anticipate your favorite players being drafted by your favorite teams. Overpaid execs, scouts, and Mel Kiper will crunch game film, combine results, and historical stats, to make the decisions that we can make from the comfort of our living rooms. We can make picks through each round and automatically have a Super-Bowl team the upcoming season.

Remember……

Philly fans booed when Donovan McNabb was selected. (After Cleveland took Tim Couch #1 overall in 1999)

Saints fans cheered when Ricky Williams was selected. (But later cringed seeing him in a wedding dress along side Mike Ditka on the cover of a magazine)

Nobody was watching when Tom Brady was selected.  (6th round of 2000, but they were
watching when Peter Warrick was selected 4th overall to Cincinnati)

And I’m sure girls were hiding in bathrooms in bars across America when Roethlisberger was selected. (And rightfully so)

The unknown, the anticipation, the “this is our year moment”; this is what makes the NFL Draft an event that places a shadow over the other so called drafts. No 19 year olds leaving college after a showcase season in college. Never have you seen a player get drafted in the first round to the New York Giants, and then sent to double A Dover to sharpen his skills. The NFL draft is the doorway to the League, and please believe that America will be there watching to see who will walk through it.

Enjoy.

Celtics vs. Heat Fight Video - Triple O.G. K.G.Throwing Bows On 'Em

Video of Kevin Garnett dropping bows into Quentin Richardson's grill like he on some Ludacris type mess.

Remember, KG said that Quentin walked over and he asked him to leave. Before he knew it, it was mayhem on the court. Wonder where the mayhem came from Triple O.G. K.G.???

New Workout – All Around Athlete Program.

Who is ripped the most, Reggie Bush or Adrian Peterson??? I overheard a debate over who claims the throne. Well, I don’t know but after watching a mix of Spartacus on Showtime and the NFL combine workouts leading to the draft, it is time to put the workout into overdrive.

Who can put a picture of Reggie Bush up without including Kim K????

Anyways…

Here is a link to the All Around Athlete workout so you can go check it out for yourself. For the next 6 weeks I will update my progress each Friday. Personally I will be doing fitness training on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s in between workouts. For us former athletes, got get at it and let me know how your workout is coming. There Is No Future In Frontin'!!
